Morton County to Staff Additional Personnel for Equipment Removal
 
Mandan, N.D. - Morton County Sheriff's Department has been advised of Dakota Access Pipeline's (DAPL) plan to remove their equipment from specific construction sites in Morton County. Law enforcement will be in the area Tuesday, September 13th, to maintain public safety as equipment is removed.
 
"I have requested that Dakota Access Pipeline inform the Morton County Sheriff's Department of their plans.  This request is to ensure that public safety is paramount for all of us; to include, DAPL workers, protesters and law enforcement officers. This type of group effort will help ensure DAPL can remove their property in a safe manner," said Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier.

MORTON COUNTY PARK:
 
The electricity has been turned off at Harmon Lake Recreation Area.
 
All Boat docks in Morton County Parks Systems have been pulled for the season.
 
Reservations for shelters and group pads will be taken starting March 15, 2017.
 
*Schmidt Bottoms Shooting Range Opens:  The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has reopened its public shooting range at Little Heart (Schmidt) Bottoms on the Oahe Wildlife Management Area in Morton County, following recent completion of road repair work.  The range, 12 miles south of Mandan on ND Highway 1806, is open from sunrise to sunset daily.
 
*Ft Rice Recreation Area and Boat Ramp, Graner Park and Little Heart Boat Ramps are open to the public for DAY USE ONLY.
 
*The ND Game and Fish Dept is not prohibiting public access to Wildlife Management Areas adjacent to ND HWY 1806 South, south of Mandan.
  
*Public access continues to be halted south of the Traffic Information Point (TIP) on ND HWY 1806 S at Morton County Road 138A.
 
 
The IRON RANGER is on duty so please be honest. The campground host at Harmon Lake is on duty and Morton County Parks employees will be checking the other sites.
